Brenton Crozier

Brenton works as the Multimedia Producer and Website Editor of NPR show, State of the Re:Union. It was after interviewing Phil Collins that he was lead to start Synconation. Not because of the divine interaction, but more because he was told to sans the celebrity pieces . . . but the interaction with PC was divine. In fact, it's the one thing Brenton still derives glory from. He's hoping one day that it will work as a pick-up line because it hasn't yet. He also likes Dawn Powell books, Indian food and fantasy football. And it was the feeling of euphoria he got from certain songs and wanting to share said euphoria that made him fashion Synconation in a way that conveyed the more visceral rather than the overly analytical. He is humbled to work with such an incredible team of writers.

Tours - Grand Lux

Tours – Grand Lux

Grand Lux by Tours Tours was recently featured on Synconation, but recently dropped a new track recently that begged to be spotlighted. “Grand Lux” has an incredible groove, creative breaks and a nice swagger that’s rarely found within this genre. It reminds me of a dream that I had where I was watching a movie on a VHS player that I had to...
Zen Mantra - La La La La La

Zen Mantra – La La La La La

I only discovered New Zealand’s Zen Mantra this morning through the track “La La La La La.” It has that infectious simplicity that harkens early 90s grunge with a psychedelic makeover, along with some deeper layers and a dream-fuzz veneer that makes me so happy when I listen to My Bloody Valentine. Download the track for free-zees at...
Giraffage + xxyyxx - Even Though (Teen Daze Remix)

Giraffage + xxyyxx – Even Though (Teen Daze Remix)

Giraffage is one of our recent favorites, as evidenced by how recently we featured him. “Even Though” is a forthcoming collaboration with XXYYXX, with remixes of the track performed by Teen Daze, Slow Magic, Reid and The One AM Radio. The single, along with the remixes, are set to be released on  Kitsuné and will also...

Sunbears! - Give Love a Try

Sunbears! – Give Love a Try

It’s an all Suntier artist week on Synconation! If you haven’t had the opportunity to see the SUNBEARS! live, you’re in for the ultimate birthday party meets psychedelia meets rock show extravaganza. “Give Love a Try” is the first single off of their new album, You Will Live Forever . . . available on multi-colored vinyl...
Tours - Tough Lately

Tours – Tough Lately

I don’t know much about Philadelphia-based artist, Tours, but “Tough Lately” has been on repeat. It makes me feel the same way I do when I actually get a rejuvenating night of sleep and am finally waking up, but still somewhere between full awareness and dreaming. You know, the same way watching Barton Fink or Catch 22 makes you...
Lotus Plaza - Strangers

Lotus Plaza – Strangers

Lotus Plaza is the side project of Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt. “Strangers” is off the recent release, Spooky Action at a Distance on Kranky records. I was expecting more in the way of sonic experimentation, but the guitar work is wonderfully melodic and matches the understated vocals to create something that harkens the early 90s sound from...
Aimes - Somewhere In Space We Hang Suspended

Aimes – Somewhere In Space We Hang Suspended

Thank you Mr. Nonsense, I have a new love. AIMES is the moniker used by Brooklyn-based artist, Aman Ellis. Yes there is synth du jour, but the more magnetizing element is the ability to balance such a delicate air and so many rich, gorgeous layers. His Facebook page places his sound into a Space Hype genre, describing a forthcoming EP...
Warm Digits — A Warm Wind Coming In From The North

Warm Digits — A Warm Wind Coming In From The North

It’s hypnotic drone Wednesday with the Warm Digits! It’s like krautrock, but a little friendlier, shoegaze, but a little sunnier, and ambient electronic but a little more pulsating. I hear glimpses of Stereolab and Trans Am mixed in with their earlier krautrock influences. The English duo released their debut album, Keep Warm… with the Warm Digits, on Distraction records. Related...
Vektroid - Afghan Kush

Vektroid – Afghan Kush

VEKTROID is one of our favorite artists and produces at a prolific rate. Bulk Heroin is VEKTROID’s hip-hop project and the songs produced for it have made me seriously contemplate re-vamping my car’s sound system. “Afghan Kush” reminds us of how sweet it is when the bass gets dropped . . . a seemingly dying art. I’ve...
Givers - Saw You First

Givers – Saw You First

GIVERS is another of Glassnote’s impressive roster of artists. It’s truly one of those successful sound conglomerates that melds danceable, rootsy music with modern indie rock and even weaves in electronic elements that come as a pleasant surprise while remaining congruous. It’s well-crafted and uplifting. I love the spirited back-and-forth vocals between Taylor Guarisco and Tiffany Lamson. It’s...
Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know

Two Door Cinema Club – What You Know

Not every song of the day has to be about discovery . . . right? Two Door Cinema Club already has an adoring, and sizable, following. But it seemed appropriate on this St. Patrick’s Day eve to feature one of Ireland’s most interesting and infectious rock acts, although a “rock” designation doesn’t do what they...
