It’s simply the ebb and flow of life. Some days you’re up, some, you’re down, and others, you’re humming away somewhere in that vapid middle ground. That’s right, I say bring on the extremes!

When I’m descending, heading for a day inflicted with mullygrubs, I like to embellish it. I say, go with the mood, experience it to its fullest. Feel alive man! So instead of cranking Katrina & the Waves, I go to my brooding enhancement standbys. So next time life is kicking you in the guts, cue these downers and go with it.

It’s more the overall conveyed mood, the encompassing atmosphere of the song that I focus on even more than the lyrics.

Fuck your expensive therapy sessions and Zoloft and enjoy/don’t enjoy (whichever makes more sense) my top 5 mope fest songs:

Radiohead – “How to Disappear Completely”

Jonsi & Alex – “Happiness”

YouTube determined that TubePress's request did not contain proper authentication. - Private video

Hammock – “I Can Almost See You”

Beck – “Sea Change”

Johnny Cash and Will Oldham – “I See a Darkness”

There are a number of honorable mentions from the likes of Otis Redding, Nick Drake and of course those superstars of sorrow, The Cure. But I can’t fit them all in. What are you going to do, cry?
