I’m a chain-smoking, music snob who moved to Jacksonville, Florida, from Montclair, New Jersey. I grew up just twenty minutes from New York City, so naturally, I fell in love with its fast-paced way of life, and I plan to venture back there soon. My strong attachment to fashion, art and music has taken me to great lengths. My adoration for music started as a little girl. My mother would blast Nirvana’s Nevermind, and it has been embedded into my life ever since I listened to Cobain’s angst-filled lyrics. I grew up listening to 90s alternative while most other girls my age were teeny bopping to bubble gum pop. Britney didn’t really cut it for me. I used to get my kicks singing along to Alanis Morrisette and Jewel albums. I still find the nostalgia of those records to be very comforting. I’m in my early twenties now, and I still listen to the music from my childhood, but my taste in music has morphed into a more mature style. Ambient music and melodic noise really does it for me now.
Youth Lagoon’s The Year Of Hibernation has been on repeat for the past few weeks, and Beach House’s Teen Dream is an album that is great for falling asleep to. “Silver Soul” is a song that I could listen to over and over again.
Ultimately, my dream job would be dancing around to loud music in my bedroom, but of course that is not an option, unless I wanted to be a webcam girl. I’m going to opt for any job in the music industry. Since I’ve always been interested in music blogs, Synconation is the perfect beginning to my music career. Music is the only thing that moves me in ways that are unexplainable, and I believe that everyone should make their work their passion.
