Greetings from Richmond, VA, where it has been quite dark, both literally and figuratively. Hurricane Irene dropped us off a tropical storm, which knocked out power in 75% of the city; I got mine back after seven days, and let me tell you—doing chores around the apartment is so much easier with the AC and lights on.
It’s also been dark in my heavy little heart due to the recent loss of a loved one. But now…light. It’s bright again in my apartment, and after much mourning, I feel comforted by knowing that my dear one left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and so much love.
This calls for a song to gently awaken my soul back to my surroundings, back to my routine and friends, and I couldn’t think of a better way than with this remix. The original version of this song, off of CunninLynguists’ Dirty Acres, is the night to its remixed twin’s day—very mellow, speckled with jazzy keyboard notes. But Blue Sky Black Death’s remix of “The Park” is vibrant, loud, joyous…just plain dope. It’s amazing daytime music, and perfect for getting your day rolling to. Enjoy the light.
