DIIV’s “How Long Have You Known?” has that summery haze that’s become quite popular with treated vocals, clean, simple, infectious guitar leads and that overall washed out delivery. Although they do capture that same dream pop, beach day sound as bands like Seapony, La Sera, and of course Beach Fossils (Zachary Cole founded DIIV and is the guitarist for Beach Fossils), they have that extra layer of song craftsmanship that harkens bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain and The Telescopes. I love the rich, but unfocused reminiscent quality of a song like this . . . abstract reminiscence perhaps? “How Long Have You Known?” is off DIIV’s album, Oshin.
