This is instantly going to foster comparisons to Paul Simon’s Graceland. It can even be considered a sequel to “You Can Call Me Al” as both the musical and lyrical content are similar. This time it appears Jens Lekman is actually talking to himself, while Paul was describing having a midlife crisis. Not sure if Jens has missed the whole world-music afrobeat train by now, but I think he’s doing a good job of jumpstarting the interest again. I can’t blame him for coming out the gates with something this upbeat after surviving swine flu.
